Cramming Methods
There are two basic types of cramming : intense and prepared .
With intense cramming, start a few days before the exam. Read, make notes and memorize until most of it fill in your brain. Make a list with only the words you can’t get a definition for but need to recognize and get a definition before the exam.Intense Cramming - Three Day Cramming For One Day Remembering
There are only four steps to short term memory cramming.
Step 1 - Single Out The Course’s Purpose
Using the outline of the course, write down the main topics and the instructor’s goal for teaching the course. Examples: “American Business History-to show relationship between history of US. business sector and general US. history”; “Cellular Biology-cells as the building blocks of all life.”Laws. Regulations. Licenses. Lawsuits to watch over conduct of businesses.
Step 2 - Focus On The Course’s Major Topics
Use all the written material available to determine the major topics of the course. This includes the course outline, books, and notes. Use anything and everything available from or about the course.
Step 3 - Make Notes that will Jog your Memory
Read and make notes as you go along. Focus on making relationships between ‘facts.’ Facts are only meaningful in a larger picture. When you are making notes, concentrate on relationships.
1. Write out the main topics of the course, and clearly define each.2. Underneath each main topic, write out all of the subtopics.3. Clearly define every subtopic. Define the relationship between the subtopic and the course. List a few examples for each.4. List all facts including names, dates, and formulas and other important information that could be on the test.
Step 4 - Memorize the list
Memorize using any way you can to put these notes into your mind. For tests that are filling in the blank or essay spell all words correctly and remember them. Don’t just recognize them when they’re written out.
The three type of memory are: recall, recognition and association. The test where you receive a score quickly uses memory recognition and memory association. For fill in the blank and essay exams you will use all three types of memory.
The best way to get rid of test anxiety is to give your self confidence a boost. When you know you are completely ready for an exam, this is definitely the boost your self confidence needs.
Gather all study materials including your notes and use the course outline to start cramming.
